Tear Trough Filler

Under-Eye Hollows

The eyes are often the first area of the face to show signs of ageing. The skin here is thinner, more delicate, and more responsive to the effects of time, genetics, and lifestyle. As the mid-face descends with age, the natural contour shared between the under-eye area and cheeks in youth becomes more distinct — creating hollows, shadows, and the appearance of dark circles or bags that can make the face look persistently tired, regardless of how rested you feel.

Tear trough filler is a non-surgical injectable treatment designed to restore lost volume beneath the eyes, smooth the under-eye contour, and bring the area back into harmony with the rest of the face. The result is a refreshed, naturally rested appearance — subtle, natural, and achieved without surgery.

This is one of the most technically demanding areas of the face to treat, requiring advanced anatomical knowledge and precise injection technique. In the right hands, the outcome is quietly transformative.

How It Works

Tear trough volume is restored using a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler – a naturally occurring substance in the skin that provides hydration, plumpness, and structural support. In filler form, it is cross-linked into a cohesive gel that holds its shape beneath the skin, precisely replacing what has been lost.

When placed skilfully into the tear trough, the filler integrates with the surrounding tissue,  lifting the under-eye area, improving hydration, and softening the shadows created by hollowing. It smooths the transition between the lower eyelid and cheek, restoring a contour that looks naturally youthful and rested.

Dr Shabri’s approach to tear trough filler is rooted in subtlety and precision. Rather than seeking dramatic change, the goal is to restore what has been lost – replenishing volume, softening shadows, and gently rejuvenating the under-eye area in a way that feels entirely natural. Every treatment is considered in the context of the whole face, always with harmony and balance as the guiding principle.

FAQs

What is tear trough filler?
Tear trough fillers are a non-surgical treatment option that can help rejuvenate the appearance of the lower eyelid area.

The tear trough refers to the groove that runs from the inner corner of the eye, following the contour under the eye, towards the mid-cheek area.

Tear trough filler is suitable for individuals with noticeable under-eye hollows due to ageing or genetics. Dr Shabri carefully assesses your anatomy, skin quality, and overall facial harmony to determine suitability. It is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding patients, or those who have recently taken Roaccutane.

Yes. When performed by Dr Shabri, tear trough filler is very safe. High-quality hyaluronic acid products, precise injection techniques with either a cannula or fine needles, and careful placement minimise risks and ensure long-term, natural-looking results. A cannula is typically used to reduce trauma and bruising, while a fine needle may be employed when appropriate for specific anatomical requirements.

The under-eye area is delicate, but the procedure is generally comfortable. Anaesthetic is included in the filler, and Dr Shabri uses gentle techniques to ensure comfort throughout the treatment.

There can be raised bumps or slight redness from injection points but this usually subsides within a couple of hours. With any injectables there is a chance that bruising and/or swelling may occur. Bruising and swelling will usually appear within 48 hours from treatment. To reduce the risk of bruising we suggest that you avoid omega-3 fatty acid supplements, blood thinners and alcohol for 48 hours prior to your injectable treatments. Comprehensive aftercare guidance is provided to support recovery and optimal outcomes.
