FAQs

When should I first bring my child to the dentist?

You should bring your child when their first tooth erupts. Children’s dentistry should include regular, early visits to the dentist as these are important for normalising the experience for your child. This helps to prevent any fears or anxieties from arising and sets the foundation for making sure a dental visit is an enjoyable experience.

Every six months is recommended, although some children may need more frequent visits depending on age or dental needs.

The first visit is a gentle introduction which may be during a parent’s or older sibling’s appointment. Once your child feels comfortable, Dr Shabri checks teeth and gum health and shows brushing techniques in a fun, interactive easy-to-understand way.

Feeling nervous at the Dentist is completely normal as it’s often a fear of the unknown! Dr Shabri’s approach is calm, fun and all about creating a safe environment for your child to feel relaxed in order to form a healthy long-term relationship with the dental environment and Dentist.

Along with regular check-ups, fluoride applications, fissure sealants, hygiene treatments, fillings for cavities and tailored cleaning advice all help to protect your child’s teeth and keep them healthy long-term.
